Weekend Preview – 19th November 2021

Five local sports fixtures to cover this weekend. Beyond this, there has been plenty going on behind the scenes for our local teams.

Beverley Town hope to return to winning ways this weekend when hosting Westella & Willerby in the Whitehead Cup. Town are without a win in three heading into this fixture. Mike Thompson will be expecting a response from his side who have already beaten Westella once this season, in a close 1-0.

Returning from the international break Hull City will hope to pick up where they left off. Last time out City beat relegation rivals Barnsley 2-0 in a much-improved performance in South Yorkshire. Back at the MKM Stadium this weekend, the Tigers host Birmingham City who have recently had a good run of results.

There’s been plenty of positive momentum for Hall Road Rangers in recent weeks and they’ll be hoping to keep this going on Saturday when they welcome Parkgate FC to Haworth Park. Oliver Harsley has a full match preview.

North Ferriby FC get their FA vase campaign underway with a trip to the North – East to face North Shields. The Villagers received a bye up to the second round due to their impressive run-in last ears competition, which saw them reach the fourth round before being removed from the competition due to fielding an ineligible player. Ferriby has kindly provided a pre-match report.

Beverley RUFC could make it three wins from three following back-to-back victories for the first time this season. Last week the Beavers scraped past a poor Leodensians side. Bridlington are this week’s visitors and have been on an inconsistent run too. It is a good opportunity for Bev to climb up the table.

Beverley ARLFC have returned to pre-season training following the usual close-season lay-off. Head Coach Tony Spence, determined for his side to hit the ground running in 2022, has arranged a comprehensive and varied pre-season schedule. Boxing gyms are combined with the conventional outdoor sessions under lights. Nick Robinson has the full details.

Hull KR have announced Dewsbury Rams are their duel-registration partners once again for the 2022 season. The link originally started in 2020 but neither side gain many benefits as the season was curtailed for the Rams. The Robins have also agreed on the departure of forward Anesu Mudoti, the former Bradford man has been hampered with injuries since joining the KR.

Hull City Ladies do not have a fixture this weekend. They beat Blackburn Community Sporting Club last weekend to progress to the next round of the Women’s Vitality FA Cup. The Tigresses host Liverpool Feds next weekend in the second round. Defender Hannah Langford has been selected for the England Colleges team following an impressive start to the season.
