It was an evening to forget for the two local teams in action last night.

Hull City lost in a poor performance at home to Stoke City. Shota Arveladze’s side have not lost three games on the bounce with the worst defensive record in the league. It was a good evening for the Potters captain Lewis Baker. Baker scored the first via a deflected free-kick that wrong-footed Matt Ingram in goal. The second was a whipped free-kick from Baker which Ingram missed and Wilmot bundled home. The visitors then caught City on the break and Baker was on the end of the cross for the third and final goal. The Tigers did have some opportunities, Championship player of the month for August, Óscar Estupiñán, rattled the post and Ryan Longman forced a good save from Josef Bursik but it wasn’t enough as City slipped to 15th in the table.

North Ferriby have only one win in five following a heavy defeat this evening. After an immaculate start to the season the Villagers have stuttered and hosts Silsden took full advantage. Luke Brooksbank bagged a hat-trick, with Josimar Bradshaw from the penalty spot the other name on the scoresheet for the Cobbydalers. Ferriby did manage a late consolation from a Danny East header but it did not affect the result. Ferriby are now 5th in the table.
