Weekend Review – 15th November 2021

Another successful weekend in our realms of local sport, four wins from five fixtures. All were in very tight matches and reports from the games are available on the website and if you click the links on this report.

Beverley Town have been knocked out of the East Riding Senior Cup. Town have stumbled in recent weeks following months of dominance. The game itself was 0-0, Beverley missing several golden opportunities to win. East Riding Rangers prevailed on penalties 8-7. It is cup action once again for Mike Thompson’s men next weekend.

Hall Road Rangers impressed once again with a 2-0 victory away at Swallownest. It was a tight game with both sides creating good chances. Rangers took one and were helped out by an own goal. Oliver Harsley has the full post-match report.

North Ferriby remain three points clear at the top of the Northern Counties East League Division One table but were pushed hard for their 2-1 victory by a determined Clipstone team. The Villagers were far from their best but cheered on by their biggest crowd of the season an impressive 649 at the Dransfield Stadium.

Beverley RUFC made it two wins in a row. Never pretty to watch but in the end, it all came to life with an exciting finish. Given that they were never really competing in the first half this was a good result for Beverley. Throughout the half, they had been dire, totally lacking in any urgency or adventure. It was as though they had been addressed pre-match by an official from the Health and Safety Executive. A better side than Leodensians might have put thirty or forty points past them before halftime.

Hull City Ladies clinched a hard-fought victory away against Blackburn Community to progress through to the Second Round of the Vitality FA Cup! Blackburn who are three divisions below the Tigresses battled relentlessly all game but Captain Ellie Tanser’s goal in the 82nd minute secured the victory. HCL will host Liverpool Feds in the next round.
