HOLIDAY HOME and lodge manufacturer ABI UK Ltd, based in Swinemoor Lane, Beverley, has announced a £100,000 donation to four local charities – Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Candlelighters, who support families facing children’s cancer, veterans charity Hull 4 Heroes and Neighbourhood Network, the Hull-based charity, that aims to support residents in reducing crime and creating a safe environment to live in.

ABI, who are celebrating 50 years of manufacturing, made the donations after giving £10 for every unit built in the past 12 months. The beneficiaries were chosen by staff. In another initiative, the company plants a tree for every unit built.

THE PUFFINS Galore! sculpture trail across East Yorkshire has proved so popular it has been given an extended run until Easter. Over 100,000 people have followed the trail to spot the 42 individually designed, painted and sponsored puffin sculptures and their presence has given businesses on the route a huge boost.

Locations include Flemingate and Saturday Market in Beverley and the Folly Lake Cafe at Risby Fishing Ponds near Walkington. The trail opened in July and was originally meant to end in November, with an auction of the puffins in aid of charity. But demand has been so high that East Riding Council and the Yorkshire Coast BID will now not remove the puffins until next May.

THE MAYOR of Beverley, Cllr Linda Johnson, is holding a coffee morning in aid of Guide Dogs, one of her chosen charities this year. It will be held at Toll Gavel Church on Saturday October 29, from 10am to 12.30pm. Alongside refreshments, cakes and Guide Dog merchandise in the church, their will also be activities on the driveway.
