A 28-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence. It follows an incident on Hull Bridge Road at the Beverley side of the Swinemoor Lane roundabout on Saturday night.

A police spokesman told Beverley FM that a woman was assaulted by a man around 8pm that evening, suffering injuries that required hospital treatment. It was also reported the man attempted to sexually assault the woman before being disturbed by witnesses.

The spokesman said: “The woman will make a full recovery; however it was understandably incredibly distressing and she continues to be supported by officers.” As part of the investigation police are appealing for dash-cam footage from vehicles travelling along Hull Bridge Road between 7.50pm and 8.10pm on Saturday.

The 28-year-old man appeared before Hull Magistrates and was remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on November 15. Anyone who can assist police with information is asked to contact them via 101.

The police spokesman told us: “We would like to thank the witnesses who came to the aid of the woman and who have supported our investigation so far. We understand that incidents of this nature can be concerning for the public, but both high visibility and plain-clothed officers continue to patrol the area to provide reassurance and challenge any suspicious or unsettling behaviour.”

Elsewhere, a construction student at Bishop Burton College is getting ready to take on students across the UK in the finals of SkillBuild UK.

Daniel Greenwood, 18, of Burton Fleming, a first-year apprentice, won the SkillBuild UK bricklaying regional heat and is now set for the finals in Norfolk which take place over a week in November.
