Waterworks to start ahead of town expansion

Yorkshire Water says it is investing £6m in a “major development” to improve water quality and resilience in Howden and Howdendyke.

The company said it was ahead of a “major expansion” of the town, including the building of 1,900 new homes.

The work involves building a new water main underneath the M62 and a storage tank to hold excess storm water.

Construction is due to begin on Monday 22 July and has an estimated completion date of December.
