The award-winning Beverley Puppet Festival is seeking volunteers for this July’s event, the first since 2018. At the same time, festival directors Kerrin Tatman and Anna Ingleby have unveiled plans for a puppetry workshop between July 10-15 ahead of the festival weekend of July 15-17.

Volunteer manager and trainer Bridget Coggin told Beverley FM: “We are looking for volunteers with a passion for the arts, Beverley community spirit, and delivering exceptional visitor experiences. While the majority of opportunities will be across the festival weekend, we’re keen to appoint several volunteers to join us in the two weeks before the festival in various roles to include technical theatre work, leafleting and set-up. Police are appealing for witnesses to a road accident on Queens Road, Beverley, that happened around 3:25pm on Sunday March 20. One person was treated for serious injuries after a red Kymco motorbike was in collision with a black Peugeot. If you witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage of the area at the time, you are asked to contact police via the non emergency number 101.

And finally, a search has been launched to find a family of up to five, who are keen to share their experiences of using East Riding Leisure facilities. Successful applicants would become “leisure ambassadors” and receive three months’ free family membership, in return for fortnightly updates which will be shared on East Riding Leisure’s social media channels. Any family interested should apply by April 25 by emailing leisure@eastriding.gov.uk
