EAST RIDING Council has joined with healthcare charity Nuffield Health to become the first local authority in the country to offer help to people suffering the effects of Long Covid. The free-to-access 12-week programme blends physical therapy and mental health support.
Participants will work with a fitness instructor for advice and on a recovery plan, consisting of a six-week programme of at-home exercises, before attending an East Riding Health and Wellbeing Centre for the remainder of the programme. Participants will also receive access to on-demand workouts, weekly support calls and will be able to access support from others who have had similar experiences with the long-term effects of COVID-19.

CONTROVERSIAL Beverley councillor Paul Nickerson, who represents Minster and Woodmansey Ward on East Riding Council, has taken to social media to announce he plans to step down at next year’s elections, citing “a growing family and the commitments that brings”.
Cllr Nickerson sits as an Independent councillor having resigned from the Conservative group last November after admitting sending a defamatory tweet about former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and agreeing to paying damages to Mr Corbyn.
STARGAZING is a new exhibition at Beverley Treasure House in partnership with East Riding Astronomers. It runs until the end of November and features some amazing photographs, while in November, members of the group will be present with telescopes, which visitors can look through.
