The Yorkshire Wolds are to be considered as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by Natural England. It will be part of a programme to take forward the Prime Minister’s commitment for a Green Industrial Revolution to designate more national landscapes. The Environment Secretary is setting out the government’s proposals today, to support improved nature recovery, together with support for local farmers to improve their landscapes and create thriving destinations. East Rising Council Leader Councillor Jonathan Owen told Beverley FM that he’s proud to see the area being considered for such an outstanding designation.

Police have warned of a new online scam circulating in the East Riding. An email claiming to be from the NHS is offering Digital Coronavirus Passports with a link to a convincing but fake NHS website that asks for personal payment details for an admin fee. Excitement is building with the news that an exhibition called ‘Brick Wonders’ is coming to Beverley Art Gallery next week. It features over 40 amazing sights from seven continents around the world created out of LEGO® by artist Warren Elsmore. It opens on Saturday 3rd July and features manmade and natural wonders. The centre-piece measures over 60-square feet and depicts marine life around Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. More details here
