Police are appealing for any witnesses to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the A614 near Middleton on the Wolds last Sunday afternoon around 4.35pm. Officers told Beverley FM they want anyone who hasn’t already come forward to do so if they saw either the collision itself, the vehicles prior to the collision or if they have any dash-cam footage showing the vehicles prior to the collision. The police have just named the man who sadly died as 49 year-old East Riding businessman David Lewis. In a statement his family said that they have been deeply touched by all the messages of support they’ve received but have asked for their privacy to be respected. Anyone with information should contact the police on their non-emergency number 101, quoting log 427 of Sunday 19 September.

A new campaign has been launched in East Yorkshire to support the mental health of Armed Forces personnel and their families. The campaign highlights the range of mental health services that are available across the region for anyone who serves or has served in the Armed Forces, and their families. It encourages those who are concerned about or struggling with their mental health to access the support available. More on this story from East Riding of Yorkshire Council here.

A reminder that there’s just over a week left to make nominations to recognise Good Neighbours in the Mayor of Beverley’s Civic Awards. Councillor Linda Johnson told us the Town Council will look at each individual entry and select ten recipients, who will each receive an award to celebrate the best of Beverley. Full details from Beverley Town Council here.
