Themar reunited with Seahawks

The Hull Seahawks are delighted to welcome the return of Andrej Themar back to Hull for the 2022/23 season!

The Slovakian forward makes his return to Hull after icing for the Hull Pirates in the EPIHL during the 2016-2017 season, where he scored 104 points (56 goals and 48 assists) in only 56 games. After impressing that season for the Pirates, Andrej went back closer to home to play in the top-flight Polish league where he still managed to average over a point a game, which is incredible given the standard of hockey across in Poland.

The 34 year-old has a devastating wrist shot and ability to find the net, something that netminders and defencemen across the league won’t be happy to be facing again. This is yet another statement signing for the Hull Seahawks as we look to make a real statement in the league this season.

The 5’9″ forward adds extreme firepower to the already existing roster that Matty has signed and you know that every time he steps onto the ice he will create a play for a teammate or get a chance to score himself.

Player-head coach Matty Davies had this to say about Andrej signing for the upcoming season, “This is a massive moment for the club and a signing of real intent to get Themy back to Hull has been nothing short of difficult to say the least! Firstly, I want to say to the fans that with this signing comes optimism on the ice but I also want the fans to have optimism for the club off the ice and understand how much me, Joe and Ian have put into this and how much we are willing to make this club succeed by any means necessary. The sponsorship from local companies has been amazing and down to Ian’s relentless work on that, we’ve been able to pull in a good amount of backing so that we can make the team a lot more competitive on the ice. And with that comes the repayment we will show to the fans and the local companies in how our team will compete and push to win as many games as we can!

And with this guy on our team I believe we have the best import in the league and certainly the best natural goal scorer, he has a very dangerous shot and the hockey IQ to go with it. At 34 he’s someone who has been doing his thing for many years up to now and in a lot of different top leagues in across Europe. This experience and quality will only serve our team in a massive way and I think the fans will remember his ability from 5 years ago when he scored 52 goals in a very good EPL league, which was a team in the middle of the table back then. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that in this position where I sign the team, I’ve tried to build a team that can do a little bit of everything pretty well but understanding that in my opinion, goalies and good special teams win you games and leagues.

Temy will definitely make our PP dangerous and I hope to help him in that area along with the already existing top offensive players we have signed. Knowing that I’ve always enjoyed someone next to me with a top draw shot, we have one of the best around in that department for sure. So this is a huge day for the club and to bring this lad back to Hull for our season as a new organisation, I couldn’t be happier and we can’t wait to get on the ice with him and the rest of the lads in September! See you all soon”
