Rock ‘n’ Roll with Dave Harper

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hour – Thursdays from 7pm

What’s your favourite Rock ‘n’ Roll song of all time?

I used to be a regular listener to Andy Kershaw’s Radio 1 show back in the late 80’s/early 90’s. He played an eclectic mix of world and roots music and introduced me to lots of excellent stuff that I’d never heard elsewhere. One such record was by an old rock and roller called Ronnie Dawson & the song title was Rock the blues tonight. It’s a great song to dance to with lots of great guitar licks.

If you could only eat one meal everyday what would it be?

Was a difficult choice as there’s not much I don’t like food-wise, though you’d never guess looking at my finely honed physique!! Roast Lamb, roast veg and a big dollop of mint sauce was an occasional Sunday dinner that my late mum would make.

What’s the most interesting thing you can see out of your office or kitchen window?

My reggae mad mate has a bar/man cave/music shack in his back garden. As soon as I saw it, I wanted one as well. When I moved house last year I was able to section off part of my garage and, with the help of my brother, start to create that cave!

What song would you say best describes you?

As soon as I was out of nappies, I was into football and music. Hence my choice of either “Football crazy” or “I got the music”. The first is an old novelty song probably from the 1940s or 50s, not sure who by. The other was a 70s hit for Kiki Dee.
