Vaccination sites have been launched in the East Riding, including Beverley, for children aged five to 11 to receive Covid jabs. The local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group has confirmed that providing they have no underlying health conditions, they will be offered two child doses of the Pfizer vaccine, with 12 weeks between doses.

As well as parents being able to book dedicated appointments online they now also have the option of attending a walk-in vaccine clinic without an appointment. They include the Beverley Children’s Centre on Coltman Avenue on Wednesday April 20, between 10am and 2pm. Additional times and dates will be updated on the local NHS vaccination website https://vaccinatehullandeastriding.co.uk/ as they are added for the week commencing April 18.

The Liberal Democrats have won another seat on East Riding Council from the ruling Conservatives, taking South Hunsley Ward, which covers Swanland, North Ferriby and Welton, in a by-election, triggered by the death of sitting councillor Vanessa Walker. Margaret Corless overturned a Tory majority of more than 1,500 votes to take the seat by 444 votes. The Lib-Dems now hold 10 seats with the Conservatives on 47, Independents eight and the Yorkshire Party two.

And finally, Beverley now has its own range of Platinum Jubilee souvenirs, including a Jubilee Teddy Bear, tea towel and coffee mug. They can be ordered online with proceeds helping the Beverley Cherry Tree Centre. More details at shop.beverleyjubilee.co.uk
