PLANS for a drive-through coffee shop on land off Killingwoldgraves Lane, near Bishop Burton, look set to be approved by planning councillors provided a footpath link is also constructed. Lovel Capital Projects Ltd has applied for planning permission for the Tekno Developments site, where outline planning permission already exists for a petrol filling station and shop and a number of employment units.

Members of East Riding Council’s eastern area planning sub-committee have been recommended by officers to give the go-ahead at their meeting on August 8, subject to the pedestrian link being added. This is in spite of strong objections from Bishop Burton Parish Council, who expressed concerns about the impact on local shops; however these concerns were dismissed by officers in their report.

THE FINAL date of this year’s East Riding Culture Train tour will see four acclaimed acoustic acts playing a free concert in St Mary’s Church, Beverley, on Saturday September 3. The Arkut Brothers, Emma Fee, Carrie Martin and the Infidels are expected to draw a large crowd for the event, funded by East Riding Council’s “Active Creative” arts fund. More details can be found on the CultureTraintour Facebook page.
