BEVERLEY RUFC celebrate 50 years of playing at their home ground, Beaver Park, today with the first home match of a new season. The first team will wear a new kit to mark the anniversary when they take on opponents Dinnington, with a 3pm kick-off.

The day starts at 12 noon with Beverley under 15’s v Roundhay kicking off at 1pm. And as part of the celebrations the club is putting on additional entertainment, including a bouncy castle and disco. The club will also observe a minute’s silence before each match as a mark of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

HOUSE PRICES increased by 1.3 per cent in the East Riding in July, new figures show. The boost contributes to the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 8.3 per cent annual growth; although overall, houses prices are still the lowest in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The average East Riding house price in July was £219,911 and over the last year, the average sale price of property rose by £17,000.

EAST RIDING Council was the subject of 90 complaints and inquiries to the Ombudsman about its actions last year, new figures show – up from 56 the year before. After investigation, the Ombudsman found the council to have acted unjustly on 15 occasions.
