Humberside Police are set to highlight the courageous work of their officers in Beverley and East Yorkshire who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public. They are launching a ‘Week of Action’ to celebrate the professionalism demonstrated in difficult situations. It’s part of an initiative to highlight response policing in our area. Chief Constable Lee Freeman told Beverley FM that he’s impressed by the way local police teams go above and beyond to ensure the safety of others. In particular, their incredible work securing the arrest of dangerous and violent offenders, safeguarding the most vulnerable in our society and proactive work to recover drugs and property.

East Riding Council has paid tribute to the resilience of the area’s tourism sector to recover from the pandemic. Councillor Jane Evison, portfolio holder for economic investment, growth and tourism, told us that local businesses have adapted fantastically well. Her comments come as the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards, or REYTAs, return to recognise outstanding performance. She added that the awards provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate our brilliant tourism businesses. Read the full story here.

And finally, tonight is the last performance of the current run of the play ‘Paint the Town Fred’ at East Riding Theatre. The highly acclaimed show throw’s a light on local artists Fred and Mary Elwell. See the theatre’s website to check on ticket availability.
