Preston 0-0 Hull City

Hull City played out a goalless draw against Preston North End in the first away match of the season.

Goalkeeper Matt Ingram was in excellent form as he produced a number of fine saves to preserve the Tigers’ unbeaten start.

Benjamin Tetteh came in for his full City debut as Shota Arveladze made one change from the opening-day victory over Bristol City, with Tyler Smith absent from the matchday squad.

The Tigers romped to a 4-1 victory at Deepdale on the opening day of last season in our first game back in the Championship after lifting the League One title.

City fell behind inside 10 minutes that day and had to absorb early Preston pressure here as Ingram palmed away Emil Riis’ crisp first-time drive from Troy Parrott’s knockdown.

Robbie Brady, part of our 2012/13 promotion-winning team, fired a 20-yard effort straight at Ingram, who dropped a hanging far-post cross before claiming at the second attempt.

The visitors’ brightest spell of a stop-start first half short on goalmouth incident and intensity came just after the half-hour mark.

Tetteh stood up a cross which Jacob Greaves glanced wide via a deflection, Oscar Estupiñán’s angled drive sailed wide and Lewie Coyle curled over from range.
