PR: North Ferriby vs Shirebrook

North Ferriby FC take on Shirebrook Town at the Dransfield Stadium on Saturday. The Villagers currently occupy top spot in the NCEL Division one table. The Villagers are five points clear of second-place Hallam. Ferriby beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 4-0 last time out in adverse weather conditions. That season is now at the halfway mark of the season. When asked about his thoughts on how the season has gone, North Ferriby FC boss Chris Bolder said, “The biggest thing that has impressed me is how we have been able to control the ball and how this limits our opponents in terms of goal scoring opportunities. We have eleven clean sheets in twenty games which shows this”. In terms of how his side can improve, Bolder said, “We still need to make sure we develop our conversion of our chances”.

It was on the opening day that the Villagers last faced Shirebrook Town. It ended with a 3-0 win in favour of the Villagers. Goals from Matty Plummer, Jamie Forrester and Danny East helped the Villagers secure the points. Shirebrook have found life tough back in the NCEL Division one and currently sit in 18th place. They have won one game in five and lost to Hallam 2-0 at the weekend. Away from home this season, Shirebrook have only scored seven goals. This is tied for lowest with bottom club Teversal. Not only have they found goals hard to come by but they are yet to record a victory on the road. Chris Bolder was asked about this fact and how he will expect the visitors to play, “We have seen teams come to us that are not in great form but they put on a fantastic display. It will be a tough game and they will be hoping to come here and cause an upset”.

Ferriby will be without midfielder Joel Shortland through injury. Danny East, who missed last weeks win at Rainworth is hopeful of returning. Oliver Kemp, who also missed Saturday’s game is due to be back for selection.
