PR: North Ferriby vs Rossington Main

North Ferriby Fc face Rossington Main at the Dransfield stadium on Tuesday night looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Hallam at the weekend. The Villagers left Sandygate on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline and six points behind their hosts. The Villagers took the lead in the game through Danny Emerton but a red card and three goals for the Sheffield based side left Chris Bolder and his side with an uphill task to win the league. Chris Bolder was asked about his thoughts, “We need to move on, it was a really good game of football for the opening 25 minutes, and we are really in the game at that point. We then receive the red card and concede the two goals and it kills us. We changed the system in the second half and went with three at the back. But we got pinned back and couldn’t get out”.

The Villagers sit comfortably in second place, eight points ahead of third-place Harrogate Railway. Their opponents this midweek Rossington sit in fifth place. When the sides last met in August, a 90th-minute equaliser from Sam Kitchen gained Rossington a point. Ferriby we’re reduced to ten men that game when Danny Emerton was sent off. Rossington have a five-point cushion from sixth place Retford, as they look to cement their place in the end of season playoffs. If the season was to end today the two sides would meet at the Dransfield in the semi-finals. Chris Bolder was asked about that possibility and what he expects from Rossington, “We will treat it as a normal game of football, and we will look to bounce back from Saturday. They are a good footballing side sitting in fifth. They have a five-point cushion, so they are safe in the play-off places. They will be looking to consolidate their position and finish as high as they can”.

The Villagers will be without both Rich Medcalf and Danny Buttle who will be missing through work commitments. Adam Bolder is still suspended after his red card against Selby a couple of weeks back. Louis Kirk will still be available despite his red card on Saturday. The suspension will kick in for the game against Armthorpe on Saturday.
