PR: North Ferriby vs Hemsworth MW

North Ferriby look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season as they host Hemsworth Miners at the Dransfield.

Chris Bolder’s side left Silsden with a 4-1 defeat the final outcome. That result and other around the league saw Ferriby drop down to 4th place in the NCEL premier table. Paul Robson oversaw the game in Bolder’s absence, and he summed up his thoughts after the game, “the first ten-fifteen minutes we were pressing in and around their box and we created some nice chances but didn’t have any end product, which has been an area of we have been looking into recently”.

Hemsworth come to the Dransfield sat in 9th place. During the week they were defeated by Barton Town 2-0. Last season “The Wells” finished 18th. Nash Connolly is Hemsworth’ top goal scorer, with three goals in six games. Hemsworth and the Villagers have both scored the same amount of goals this season, both sides hitting ten in their six games. The Villagers edge the defensive record between the two sides, conceding seven in six, compared to the ten goals conceded by Hemsworth.

Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts heading into the game,

“obviously disappointed to lose our first league game of the season on Tuesday away at Silsden. I think there were a few similar patterns to recent concerns so we need to work hard to eradicate them. Although we are unhappy with the loss, we will have to be reasonably pleased with the overall league start and therefore we must get back at it on Saturday. The hardest thing in football is to put the ball in the back of the net, and when you create numerous chances and are on top of another team, you have to take these. As we have seen before that you can be punished at the other end when you don’t convert these opportunities and the old cliche is that goals change games which is something we have observed this season already”.
