PR: Handsworth vs North Ferriby

North Ferriby Fc travel to Handsworth at the weekend as they look to maintain their solid league form. The Villagers currently sit in first position in the NCEL premier division table. The Villagers were set to play Barton Town during the week, but the game fell foul to a waterlogged pitch.

Last time out the Villagers faced Thackley. It was a tight game with a Josh Whiteley goal ten minutes from time sealing a 2-1 victory for Chris Bolder’s side. Here’s what Chris Bolder had to say about the game, “even though we produced another win last Saturday, we are working exceptionally hard to be more consistent across the full 90minutes. I thought we were brilliant first half, and to only be one goal up didn’t do us justice at all. We created some clear-cut chances and should have given ourselves a greater cushion to put the game beyond our opposition. Whilst the game is only at 1-0, the other team are still well in it, and they came at us second half and caused us problems. We still had chances to score ourselves, but it became too open for us. We can say it was brilliant character from the lads, after the disappointment though, which I know we have great people in our dressing room”.

Their hosts on Saturday, Handsworth, currently sit in sixth place. The Ambers come into the game off the back of a 4-1 home win over Goole during the week. The win saw them leapfrog Winterton and Hemsworth in the standings. Handsworth boast one of the league’s top goalscorers in Mitchell Dunne, the Handsworth attacker has thirteen goals to his name.

When asked about Handsworth and the upcoming team selection, Bolder said, “After the disappointment of Tuesday’s game being postponed, we now look forward to a tough trip to an in-form team on an artificial surface. We will have a strong squad to choose from, but we will definitely be without Oli Donald, Danny Clarke, Danny East and Danny Emerton”.
