North Ferriby 2-1 Hemsworth MW

North Ferriby bounced back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Silsden with a 2-1 victory over Hemsworth. Substitute Danny Earl coming off the bench to score the winner in the 83rd minute.

Chris Bolder made changes from the Silsden game. In came Lewis Hill, Josh Smaller, Liam Dickens and Jamie Forrester. Bolder also adopted a different formation.

The Villagers started strong and nearly took the lead when good play down the left-hand side resulted in a cross being net by Danny East, whose header went just wide. Tom Corner came close when his header went just wide after more good play down the left.

The Villagers took the lead through an unstoppable strike from Jamie Forrester. The midfielder received the ball inside the Hemsworth half, he then did a turn before unleashing an effort from a good distance out which looped over Hughes in the Hemsworth goal.

The visitors would level when the home side didn’t clear a corner and the ball was allowed to come back across the Ferriby goal and Andy Higgins slid in, to level the score.

Jamie Forrester came close on a couple of occasions before the first half was over. Forrester let fire outside the area, but his shot fired back off the corner of the bar. Just before the half was up, Forrester attempted another effort from out of the area but this time his shot went agonisingly over. Josh Smaller played a brilliant ball into the area and found Tom Corner, Corner saw his effort saved by Hughes.

Robbie Start came close to opening the scoring in the second game but is shot went just wide of the goal. Substitute Danny Earl had a great chance when Niall Tilsley started an attack with a great ball into the area, however, Earl saw his shot blocked. Earl would get his goal when a ball over the top saw Earl get there before the Hemsworth defender before racing in on goal and tucking it past Hughes.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “on the back of a couple of disappointing results and a couple of disappointing performances it was important that we got back to winning ways. We changed the system and a couple of changes and I think the lads responded really well. In patches we played some wonderful stuff, we looked a threat and got good numbers into the box. I think over the course of the 90 minutes we were worthy winners”.

North Ferriby: Hill, Emerton (Buttle), Donald, Tilsley, Smaller, Start (Dennett) Dickens, Kirk, Forrester, East (Shortland) Corner (Earl).
