Fire officers were called out at the weekend to help with the rescue of an elderly lady who had broken her ankle in a fall in a wooded area on Newbald Road, Beverley. She was found to be suffering mild hypothermia by the time she was found in the early afternoon on Saturday.

The crew used specialist moving equipment and thermal blankets, successfully moving the lady to the roadside, where she was attended by ambulance staff.

A new social group for Armed Forces veterans, those serving and their dependents is launching later this month in Beverley. MASH, which stands for Military Assistance Social Hub, plans weekly activities, events and outings and has announced an open introductory meeting at the Foresters Arms on Tuesday April 26, from 1.30 to 4pm.
