ENVIRONMENTAL charity Keep Britain Tidy has announced that four beaches in East Yorkshire – those at Bridlington North and South Bays plus Hornsea and Withernsea have qualified for Seaside Awards, presented annually to the best beaches in England. Sites are assessed for safety and services, environmental management, water quality and information.
Further up the coast Scarborough’s North Bay and Whitby were the only Yorkshire and Humber beaches to received the coveted Blue Flag. In addition to the criteria used for Seaside Awards, Blue Flag beaches are assessed for their environmental education activities.
BEVERLEY RUFC is launching the Rugby Football Union’s Touch Union campaign which offers all age groups the opportunity to join in playing touch rugby, which is great exercise and great fun! The club is offering an open invitation for all ages to attend the first session at its Norwood ground on Friday June 10 from 6.30pm. BEVERLEY’S Jacob’s Well charity is holding one of its regular fund-raising sales this Saturday in the driveway to Toll Gavel Church. Volunteers will be manning stalls from 9am to 3.30pm.
