There were reports of a police Taser unit responding following calls about a man threatening people with a screwdriver in Beverley at the weekend. There was concern for the safety of the public but Beverley FM has learned that the incident was resolved without any injuries being sustained or Tasers being fired. The incident was reported via a police Twitter message at 8am on Saturday morning. It confirmed the incident had been resolved safely with the help of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and that the man ”was now receiving the necessary support”.

East Riding Council is inviting comments on a  £1.3m road improvement scheme due to get underway in January on one of the major routes serving Beverley. The scheme at the Willerby roundabout junction on the A164 close to the shopping park is due to begin in January and will see the existing roundabout enlarged and traffic lights installed in a bid to resolve worsening congestion. The work is due to take eight months to complete. More in formation here

And finally, motorists are warned of possible delays as planned gas work starts on Manor Road in Beverley from today. Northern Gas Networks tell us they will be installing two-way traffic signals close to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while the works are ongoing. They are due to be finished by September 17.
