Listen Again – I Should Never Have Survived 9/11

The Paul Berriff Story

It’s 20 years ago that the United States experienced an unprecedented terrorist attack. 4 commercial airlines were hijacked. Two were flown into the twin towers at the World Trade Centre in New York, One into the Pentagon in Washington DC and a fourth crashed in a remote area after passengers attempted to overpower the hijackers after they learned the fate of the other aircraft. An East Yorkshire documentary filmmaker was in Manhattan making preparation to follow the New York Fire Department. He was under the south tower when it collapsed. The fact he escaped to tell the tale is a miracle. He’s been speaking exclusively to Beverley FM’s News Editor Jonathan Levy who has compiled this special report.

Part 1

We continue Jonathan Levy’s special report with East Riding documentary filmmaker Paul Berriff who was knocked unconscious when the first tower collapsed and only came round half an our later by the collapse of the second tower.

Part 2

East Riding documentary filmmaker Paul Berriff speaking exclusively to Beverley FM News Editor Jonathan Levy. A terrifying ordeal which he was lucky to survive. At 1.46pm on 11 September 2021, 8.46 am in New York, a ceremony at the 9/11 memorial will open with a minute’s silence to mark the moment the first plane hit the North Tower. Nearly 3000 people lost their lives in the attacks on this day, 20 years ago.
