Hull Seahawks 0-3 Bristol Pitbulls

Following the historic first win for the Seahawks in the away leg of the double-header against the Pitbulls, the Seahawks hoped to score their first four-point weekend of the season.

The first period was feisty with both teams able to maintain long periods of attacking phases. Although the Seahawks defended robustly, they were undone by a well-worked solo goal by Alex Roberts.

In the second period, it was a very much a copy and paste of the first period, with both teams struggling to find the net. It was a period littered with penalties and it was gripping to watch as chances continued to flow. Both netminders made excellent saves to keep their teams in the game until Bristol scored a second close to the period break, courtesy of a powerplay goal scored by Owen Sobchak.

The third period was equally combative but the Pitbulls maintained control, making it difficult for the Seahawks to gain a foothold. Despite the visiting team’s robust approach, Hull came close with several chances but were again undone by Sobchak who intercepted a loose puck. Weaving skilfully through the Seahawks defence, he scored Bristol’s third goal to settle the game.

Seahawks may have lost the home fixture on Sunday but the weekend will not be forgotten for their historic first-ever franchise win and their first win of the season.
