Hull City 0-2 Luton Town
Hull City suffered a 2-0 defeat against Luton Town in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
An own goal from Alfie Jones and a stunning strike from Henri Lansbury secured all three points for the Hatters at the MKM Stadium.
Interim Head Coach Andy Dawson made three changes to the starting XI that faced Swansea City last time out. Jones, Ryan Woods and Ryan Longman came into the side for Tobias Figueiredo, Jean Michaël Seri and Harvey Vale respectively, while Doğukan Sinik was named in the squad for the first time as he featured on the bench.
The visitors opened the scoring on six minutes as Elijah Adebayo met Lansbury’s corner with a sweet volley that hit the top of the crossbar, with the rebound hitting Jones into the back of the net.
Captain Lewie Coyle looked to put the Tigers back on level terms moments later as his low shot was held by Ethan Horvath, while Nathan Baxter denied Dan Potts’ diving header at the other end.
Quarter of an hour into the match, Longman thought he had found the equaliser as he cut inside from the left onto his favoured right foot, but the winger’s curling strike went narrowly over the crossbar. It was end-to-end as Carlton Morris searched for a Luton second, but his effort was high after connecting with James Bree’s delivery.
The Tigers hit the woodwork themselves on the 20th minute as Regan Slater struck a long-range effort. Horvath was beaten, with the aid of a deflection, but the ball didn’t cross the line as Luton cleared away the loose ball.
Baxter produced a stunning save to deny Morris in the latter stages of the first half, as the goalkeeper acrobatically pushed away the Luton forward’s header.
