Goole 0-2 North Ferriby
North Ferriby made it seven league wins in a row as they overcame local rivals Goole 2-0 at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.
A first Ferriby goal for Amir Berchil and a Danny Earl strike proved to be the difference.
This was the first action for the Villagers since the 3rd of December. Chris Bolder made one change from his side’s contest, Danny Clarke coming in for Danny Emerton.
The Villagers announced the signing of experienced midfielder Tom Claisse during the week. Claisse was named as a substitute for the game.
The Villagers started bright and nearly took the lead in the opening moments of the game, Oli Donald’s header narrowly going over.
Danny Earl went close after a good ball from Amir Berchil and Earl was also denied by Goole keeper Alfie Stevens-Neale.
It would be Bolder’s side who took the lead. Levi Tabotton’s throw-in wasn’t cleared away from danger and the ball fell to Berchil. The Ferriby midfielder took a touch to control and then fired a shot through the crow low and beat Stevens-Neal.
The Villagers would double their lead through Danny Earl. Josh Whiteley won the ball on the halfway line. The Ferriby attacker drove forward with the ball and played a pass to Earl, who finished perfectly into the bottom corner,
The Villagers controlled the game in the second half and sent their impressive away support home happy.
Bolder’s side still sit eleven points clear at the top of the table.
Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “the conditions didn’t favour us, we managed the game exceptionally well, without been our usual slick passing selves. We were disciplined and had a great shape about us. First half, we did enough to go in at half time with the deserved lead. Second half, they got on the ball more, we sat in a little bit, we had some tired bodies which is understandable given the little break that we’ve had. A special mention to all our substitutes who made an impact when they came on”.
