NORTHERN RAIL is warning that strike action tomorrow and next Wednesday means they won’t be able to operate any services from Beverley on those days. Meanwhile, strike action by the RMT on Saturday October 8 is expected to bring all but a handful of services to a halt, with Northern still working on a skeleton timetable to be published in due course. Customers are advised not to travel.

Given the impact strikes have on fleet displacement, Northern is also advising customers to “check before you travel” on Sunday 2nd and Sunday 9th October, when services cannot start until later in the morning. Meanwhile Hull Trains say there will be no trains from Beverley or Hull tomorrow, with a reduced service running between Doncaster and London.

SPECIALIST Beverley beer and wine shop Vine & Grain, in Butcher Row, has announced it will be closing once all stock has been sold off. A “massive” trading downturn over the past six months is blamed. The shop, which opened three years ago, expects to shut its doors for the last time around the end of October and is currently selling stock at discounted prices.
