PAN-ASIAN restaurant Sumo, with outlets at Flemingate in Beverley, and Prestongate, Hessle, walked away with the title of Britain’s best noodles when they appeared on popular BBC TV show Britain’s Best Takeaways last night.
Director and head chef Gary Chin, with colleague Scott, were competing against four other restaurants and had to serve up dishes in three different rounds to takeaway-loving families as well as players from a Manchester rugby club. Chicken Pad Thai, Singapore Chow Mein and a Thai Red Tofu Curry all scored high marks and Gary and Scott led the scoreboard at each stage, finishing with a total of 24 points.
Sumo, which opened at Flemingate in 2018, and its sister restaurant in Hessle, offers Thai, Chinese, Korean and Japanese dishes to eat in or take away. The episode can be watched here
