With East Yorkshire braced for severe weather today, with Storm Eunice forecast to bring snow and very strong winds, rail companies are advising people not to travel. Northern, who run services through Beverley and across the North of England, say passengers should expect delays and cancellations and are advised to check before setting out, if travel is absolutely essential.

Hull Trains say they will not be running any services at all today to London, but will offer limited travel as far as Doncaster.

East Riding Council is supporting a major motor rally later this month organised by the Beverley & District Motor Club. To be held on Sunday, February 27, the East Riding Stages rally has been over two years in planning and has attracted 100 drivers.

Eight stages are planned over two loops, although spectators will only be able to view the action from the Coom Hill stage in the grounds of Burton Constable Hall, while wheelchair users can watch at the Rise stage. Bishop Burton College has been chosen as the race HQ, although this is not open to the public.

And finally, organisers of the weekly Beverley Westwood Park Run say they are looking for more volunteers to help marshall tomorrow’s event. Free 5K events are held each Saturday at 9am. If you can help email beverleywestwood@parkrun.com
