FA Cup: North Ferriby 3-0 Northallerton

North Ferriby FC booked their place in the preliminary round of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Northallerton Town.

It took only four minutes for the Villagers to take the lead. Danny Emerton raced onto a ball over the top in the right-hand corner. Emerton put the ball into the box and the Northallerton defender delayed a clearance and allowed Danny East to nip in to take the ball off the defender. The centre half kicked the back of East’s ankles to give the home side the chance to take the lead from the spot. East stepped up and his effort went crashing into the roof of the net to give his side the lead.

The Villagers went in search of a second and went close after some good build-up play from Danny East, Danny Earl, and Danny Emerton. Josh Dennett received the ball, and his shot went just over the bar.

The visitors went in search of an equaliser. Matthew Crust went close with a header from a free kick. Charlie Graham also had a header that was straight at Lewis Hill.

The Villagers continued their search of a second and went close when a corner was headed back across goal and found skipper Niall Tilsley. The Ferriby defender hit his volley over the bar. The Villagers would finally make it two when a Josh Dennett long throw caused all sorts of problems for the Northallerton defence. Northallerton goalkeeper Tom Dawson missed the ball as he went to punch the ball clear. The ball ended up looping towards Danny East who headed the ball into an empty goal to double his sides lead.

The Villagers remained in control in the second half. A shot from Danny Earl was easily gathered by Dawson. The Villagers made it 3-0 when Louis Kirk showed great tenacity to keep the ball in play whilst battling for possession with a Northallerton defender. Kirk then picked out Danny Emerton who looked up and curled an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “It was a good performance, we said after last Saturday’s game, we are delighted with a clean sheet. We looked very solid front to back today. Going forward we created an abundance of chances which made it a great day overall”.
