Beverley Athletics Club: 16th February 2022
February has been a very busy month for Beverley AC!
We are delighted to announce that registration for the Pittaway Beverley 10kms and B&A Scaffolding fun run taking place on Sunday 8th May 2022 opened on Saturday 26th February. After the success of the initial release, the remaining places will be on sale in early March. The entry link can be found on the Club’s website page. We are delighted these popular events are enthusiastically supported by local sponsors, Pittaway and B&A Scaffolding and our event HQ hosts, East Riding College.
The Couch-2-5k started its’ first 13-week programme of 2022 at the end of January, with a total of 30 participants registering. Meeting on a Monday evening, (and with homework done on 2 other sessions during the week!) the group look forward to graduating in May with a graduation ceremony taking place at the Beverley Westwood Parkrun.
As ever, the Club’s calendar has been full, with members taking part in several events. There was no better way for several members to spend a pre-St. Valentine’s Day Sunday morning other than to turn out for the fifth race of the East Yorkshire Cross-Country League at Langdale End, hosted by Scarborough AC. If you are in love with mud and hills, then this was the place to be! With one more race in the League to go, Sunday’s results see both the Beverley AC mens and ladies team in first place in the League, with the final race to take place at Sewerby on Sunday 13th March. Meanwhile, other members headed over the Humber Bridge for the Valentine’s 10k race taking place in Scunthorpe.
The Club held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 23rd February, at its’ new home at Beverley Cricket Club. Those attending were able to enjoy the meeting as well as food and refreshments and reflect on the past year as well as discuss the way forward for 2022.
The next event on the Club’s calendar is the Annual Club Awards Evening on Friday 11th March when members will celebrate the achievements of 2021 at the Beverley Barn. More details on award winners to follow next month!
