£140,000 improvements for Bubwith road to continue

A scheme to improve the road surface in a Bubwith road is set to continue later in September.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £140,000 to improve Church Street in the village.

The first phase of the scheme to upgrade the paths and carry out drainage repairs was carried out during the summer holidays next to Bubwith Primary School, to avoid term-time disruption.

The second stage of upgrades to the paths and drainage will now start on Monday 30 September and is scheduled to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Church Street will be split into two sections, to allow residents access via the signed diversion route during working hours of 9:00hr until 15:00hr.

A temporary HGV road closure will be needed on Church Street between the 30 September and 8 October during working hours only. The signed diversion route will be via A163, Highfield, B1228, Howden and A63, Newsholme.

The road resurfacing work is due to take place in February next year during the school half term holiday.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you to local residents and motorists who use this road for bearing with us while we carry out these essential improvements.”

The work will be carried out by the council’s road maintenance team.
