Worsbrough Bridge 0-4 Hall Road

Hall Road Rangers earned all three points in a dominant display on Saturday as they won 0-4 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic. Rangers took the lead in the 7th minute courtesy of Sam Robinson’s 9th league goal of the season. This finished off a lovely piece of attacking play which involved Luke Bullement passing the ball to Conner Harman who then sent a great cross into the box and found James Piercy who headed the ball into the path of Robinson.

Reece Moody almost doubled Hall Road’s lead three minutes later when his header came off the bar. Moody went close again in the 26th minute as he ran in on goal and had his shot saved by Worsbrough Bridge keeper Ross Pritchard. Before the break, Rangers were awarded a penalty when Reece Moody was brought down by Ross Pritchard. Moody got back up and converted the penalty to make it 0-3 with his 6th goal of the season.

Hall Road kept up their dominance in the early stages of the second half. They extended their lead in the 52nd minute thanks to Reece Moody’s 7th goal of the campaign as he ran clear of the Worsbrough Bridge defence and slotted the ball home. Conner Harman almost made it 0-5 in the 55th minute when his brilliant free-kick was superbly tipped over the bar by Ross Pritchard.

Rangers remained in control for the rest of the game to pick up all three points and a clean sheet that moves them up into 12th place in the NCEL Division One table. Hall Road joint boss Leon Sewell was delighted with the overall performance.

“We said to the players that we wanted a positive reaction. Whether you come to Worsbrough Bridge in the Summer, in the Winter or Spring, it’s always a tough place to come. For me personally, we blew Worsbrough Bridge out the water and that’s no disrespect to them. We did what we needed to do and kept a clean sheet. We came away from home and scored four very good goals.

I did an interview with Non-League Yorkshire during the week and said that our upturn in form has been a collective part played by everybody. This performance completely epitomised that. Every single player stood out and we defended absolutely resolute. We won the battle in the midfield and we were dangerous when going forward in the final third.

Tom Macauley came back into the side, Luke Bullement got a start at right-back and did very well and Chris Simpkins came in for his full debut and did very well at left-back. We played Craig Muirhead out of position and he was superb. All in all, I’m really pleased and really happy for the lads to come and get the job done” Sewell said.
