Why reminiscing helps . . .
Reminiscence sessions held at East Riding libraries, including Beverley, for older people – including those living with early stage dementia and their carers – to socialise, chat and reminisce about days gone by, are to be extended, with specially-trained staff going out into the community to support people living with middle to late stage dementia.
It means care providers can book libraries staff to come into homes and deliver sessions for up to ten people. Libraries staff will also spend time sharing techniques and knowledge with care providers, and provide a full evaluation of each session. A special launch event is being held next Thursday, May 24th, in the Treasure House in Beverley, from 2 to 4pm, for people to find out more. Further information is also available by calling 01482 392702. For information on Reminiscence Sessions in libraries, contact your local branch.
