When King Charles came to Beverley
Beverley Civic Society begins its autumn programme next week, with a talk by Professor Barbara English about “King Charles 1st and Beverley”. It takes place on Thursday September 13th in St Mary’s Church Hall between 7.30 and 9pm.
A Civic Society spokesman told us: “Many people know that King Charles had some association with Beverley, but they may not realise how important the town was. In the chaotic days of the 1640s, Charles 1st tried to enter Hull and failed. His base was Beverley and this talk explores that time and place.” More information from www.beverleycivicsociety.co.uk
