Weekend Review – 8th November 2021

Three wins from five games for our local sides this weekend, it was an almost unbeaten weekend, unfortunately, Hull City Ladies were beaten heavily.

Beverley Town returned to winning ways after beating top of the table Sculcoates Amateurs on Saturday. Town made easy work of a game in recent weeks they may have dropped points in. Goals either side of half-time from Josh Eccles and Dan Finch clinched the three points. Manager Mike Thompson will be particularly pleased with the clean sheet. Sculcoates Amateurs 0-2 Beverley Town.

Hull City once again won just before an international break. Goals from George Honeyman and Keane Lewis-Potter helped the Tigers to the first victory in five. It was not without credit too as City looked better for much of the 90m minutes against their relegation rivals. A worry will be if City can follow up this result especially without a game in the next fortnight.

North Ferriby stayed unbeaten in the league with a 3-0 win away at Armthorpe. The Villagers scored all their goals in the second period. A tight and tense affair at times the scoreline may have flattered the visitors slightly with two late goals to seal the win and put pressure on the teams around them at the top of the league.

Hall Road Rangers played out a goalless draw at Haworth Park on Saturday as they drew 0-0 against Harrogate Railway Athletic. Six changes were made to the side that started Tuesday night’s NCEL League Cup Second Round defeat against Grimsby Borough. Neither side created a clear-cut chance during the game, but it was not a dull 0-0 by any means at Haworth Park. Another good result from Hall Road as they slowly climb the league.

Hull City Ladies were embarrassed by a very good Wolves side on Sunday. It may have been 1-0 at half-time to the hosts but it could and should have been more. The full-time result was harsh on a Tigresses side with an average age of under 21-years-old. Wolves 7-0 Hull City Ladies.
