Weekend Preview – 29th October 2021
This weekend there are six of our local sporting sides returning to the field. All five football teams and our rugby union team play across Saturday and Sunday.
Beverley Town manager Mike Thompson hopes his side can respond to last weeks defeat with a victory this weekend. Town lost a fortnight ago away at Reckitts with a disappointing performance. Saturday will be no easy fixture, the hosts, Chalk Lane, have won two on the bounce.
Hull City have been on a poor run of form which has seen them drawn into the bottom three. The Tigers lost once again last Saturday to Luton 1-0. Coventry visit the MKM Stadium sat in a handsome 4th place. The Sky Blues have had a little dip in form but could cause Grant McCann’s side some serious problems.
The season may have only just gone past the quarter mark but Saturday’s game against Hallam could prove to be season-defining for North Ferriby FC. The Villagers go into the game in fourth place whereas their visitors sit at the top of the table. The Sheffield based club have not lost in their last twelve league games. They boast an impressive +48 goal difference and come into the game off the back of an 8-1 thrashing of Selby at Sandygate last weekend… North Ferriby have provided a full preview.
Hall Road Rangers have a trip to in form Retford FC this weekend. Following last Saturday’s 5-1 home win against FC Humber United, Rangers have plenty of confidence after they put in a dominant display. Oliver Harsley has the preview for Retford vs Hall Road Rangers.
Hull City Ladies hope to build on recent performances. Despite still sitting bottom of the table the Tigress’ have been admirable in recent weeks, including a narrow 3-2 defeat away at top of the table Wolves. Middlesbrough are struggling for a run of good form as well and a tight match is expected in the North East.
Beverley RUFC have been on the wrong end of close games so far this season. Goole last week just two points the difference and the Beavers deserved much more. Beverley welcome Dinnington to Beaver Park. Dinnington have been in similarly sluggish form at the start of this season.
