Weekend Preview: 1st October 2021

Plenty of local sport to cover this weekend including a huge game for Beverley Town in the Humber Premier League. One of our local sides has already played with Hull Kingston Rovers play-off heroics ended by Catalans Dragons yesterday.

Beverley Town have a trip to Westella & Willerby this Saturday. Both sides are unbeaten at the start of the season and sit at the top of the Humber Premier League. Mike Thompson is hoping for a repeat of last weeks first-half performance which saw them take a 4-0 lead against Hessle Rangers but will hope for improvement on the second half which saw them concede two. Beverley FM reporter, Tom Cavanagh, spoke to Thompson on the Thursday Night Fixture.

Hull City host Middlesbrough at the MKM Stadium. City are under ever-increasing pressure after a poor start to the season. All positivity from last seasons win of League One has almost evaporated from the Tigers support. Our Hull City reporter Mike Try gave his verdict ahead of Saturday’s fixture.

Hall Road Rangers face a fairly familiar opponent in Rossington Main. The two met only a few weeks ago with Rossington running out 5-1 victors. This time Rangers will hope for a better result. Oliver Harsley has the full preview and also spoke to joint manager Leon Sewell.

North Ferriby will be full of confidence following last weekends demolition of Worsbrough Bridge 6-1. This week will be a tougher task with a journey to West Yorkshire to face Glasshoughton Welfare. A victory could put the Villagers in touching distance of the top of the table. Ferriby have kindly provided a preview of the game.

Hull City Ladies head to Sheffield FC hoping for their first victory of the season. Adie Costello’s side have run teams close so far this season but a combination of inexperience and late goals has stunted any league progression.

Beverley RUFC gave Bradford Salem a 55-5 thrashing last weekend in the hope of kick-starting a stalling season. The Beavers have a trip away to West Leeds although the weather forecast does not seem like it will be conducive to Beverley’s fast-flowing style of play. Chairman, Brian Gilbert spoke to our reporter Tom Cavanagh last night on the Thursday Night Fixture.
