Weekend Preview – 16th July 2021

This weekend sees the return of another local side to pre-season fixtures, whilst North Ferriby continue their road to return. Both cricket sides are expected to be in action. Whilst all our local rugby league games have been postponed, but another signing for the 2022 season has been made.

Hull Kingston Rovers once again without a fixture this weekend, have made the signing of Dewsbury Rams prop forward Tom Garratt. The 26-year-old joins on a two-year deal from the 2022 season. Garratt has impressed so far in the Championship and is looking forward to the step up to Super League for next year.

North Ferriby continue their pre-season preparations with the visit of Knaresborough Town on Saturday. Last time out the Villagers had a testing defeat against Hull City Academy 3-1. It will be a tough test for Ferriby, Town was 18th in the NCEL Premier Division before the season was curtailed.  Chris Bolder will be without a few first-team players once again.

After a bumper weekend last weekend, Driffield Town CC only have one fixture this weekend. A return to league action after a disappointing defeat to Harrogate last time out. It will be a difficult game on Saturday against York CC. Beverley Town CC will take on Studley Royal CC after a week off last weekend. Town should be favourites for this fixture especially with the good run of form they have been on.

Hull City Ladies have their first preseason friendly of the season. The Tigress’ have recruited several players in the close season in a hope of improvement on last year. Adie Costello’s side will host Chorley Women on Sunday afternoon.
