Rail campaigners are calling for the reinstatement of the Beverley to York line via Market Weighton and Pocklington. Studies have indicated the viability of the proposal with no major engineering obstacles. The Government has just announcement that it wants to help restore historic railway lines like this that were closed more than 50 years ago.

The Pipe and Glass at South Dalton has been placed at No 24 in the UK’s top 50 gastropubs revealed yesterday. Judges told Beverley FM that James and Kate Mackenzie’s East Yorkshire pub is one of the largest on the list and despite its Michelin star, offers generous portions. The food was described as hearty and moreish: including Barnsley chops the size of small children.

And a Beverley supermarket food donation scheme, which has donated over 72,000 meals to East Riding charities since it started is looking for more local groups to benefit from the programme.
