The Boundary Commission has announced plans for a major shake-up of parliamentary boundaries, which will break up the Beverley and Holderness constituency of conservative MP Graham Stuart. Plans suggest that the East Riding will be divided into two new constituencies of Beverley and The Wolds in the west and Bridlington and Holderness along the east coast. A new affordable Beverley housing project on Chantry Lane, near Flemingate, has been completed with the first tenants set to move in next month. The innovative development was designed by East Riding Council architects and consists of 16, one-, two- and three-bedroom flats. Councillor Kerri Harold, portfolio holder for public health and tackling inequalities told us that affordable rents are really important because Beverley properties are always in high demand. Time has been called at Beverley Minster. The hands of it’s 120 year-old clock have been removed to be regilded, while the 15ft dial is cleaned and repainted. The mechanism is also being fully checked. The cost of around £11,000 is being met by the Friends of the Minster. More details here
