Hall Road Rangers are still winless at the start of the new season. An opening day defeat was followed up with a defeat last night away at Glasshoughton Welfare. Rangers had some positive results in pre-season but this has yet to transfer into the league season. At half-time, the game was all square at 0-0. The hosts scored two in ten minutes, Stephens and Robinson put Welfare 2-0 up. A late David Harrison was not enough for Rangers to get any points from the fixture. Final score – Glasshoughton Welfare 2-1 Hall Road Rangers.

Hull Kingston Rovers have recalled six players from their loan deals. Mikey Lewis (York City Knights), Will Dagger (Featherstone Rovers), Joe Keyes (Bradford Bulls), Will Tate, and Tom Whur (Both Rochdale Hornets) will all re-join the Robins with immediate effect. Jimmy Keinhorst will return to KR on the conclusion of his loan deal after Castleford’s game against Leeds Rhinos this Friday 6th August. This is because of a build of injuries in Tony Smith’s squad ahead of a busy fixture list in August.

Beverley RUFC has announced their pre-season fixtures ahead of the start of the new season. Saturday 14th August will be away at Driffield. Saturday 21st August is also away this time against Hornsea, with a 3 pm kick-off. The final game which has been announced is on Wednesday 25th August at Thorne with a 7.30 pm start.
