Bus company East Yorkshire is allowing people free travel to and from their COVID-19 vaccine appointments in the East Riding. They say around 9 out of 10 people have had at least one vaccination, but there are more than 28,000 people in the East Riding who are still eligible for their booster jab.

Ben Gilligan, East Yorkshire’s Area Director, told Beverley FM: “Anything that we can do to encourage people to attend vaccine appointments will help us all get back to normal life quicker, so when the NHS asked us to help them in their mission to get as many people vaccinated as possible, we didn’t hesitate.”  To get free travel people should show a text, email or letter from NHS Booking to the driver.

Beverley Puppet Festival has now secured a grant from the Arts Council which guarantees this year’s festival will go ahead. A spokesman told us: “We are still securing some additional match-funding for the full scale of the project to be able to go ahead, but we’re almost there!”

As reported by Beverley FM on Monday, the festival has applied for an additional £9,000 partnership grant from Beverley Town Council to be spread over three years and that application will be considered by councillors tonight.

And finally, the Art and Soul outlet at Flemingate has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Yorkshire and the Humber Start-Up Business of the Year category of the Federation of Small Businesses Awards.
