The clinical director of Beverley Primary Care Network has hit out at leaders and politicians on the pressures which have led to his local team withdrawing vaccination services at Beverley Racecourse from the end of next month. Dr Colin Garnham spoke exclusively to Beverley FM to voice his concerns. He told us that the NHS runs on goodwill, but that it runs out, and his team is at breaking point. And now that appointments are being rebooked by patients through the national service, to bring forward second doses, they have no idea how many will turn up. They currently only have 5% of appointments confirmed for 800 doses this Saturday. Local patients who had the Oxford AstraZeneca first dose more than 55 days ago can rebook their second jab at Beverley now via the NHS online booking service or by telephoning 119.

An East Riding farmer has been nominated as a finalist for a prestigious national award. Amanda Beal is in the running for the Horse Transporter of the Year in the Equestrian Business Awards. The judges told Beverley FM that it’s a great achievement to make it to the shortlist stage out of more than 5,000 entries.

Local bus company East Yorkshire has launched a new ticket that could slash a third off the normal single ticket price between Beverley and Hull. The new Flexi20 bundle, of 20 day-tickets, provides around twice the discount of the existing Flexi5 option on a wide range of local journeys. They’re available via the East Yorkshire Buses App which can be downloaded free from the App Store or Google Play.
