Humberside Police are looking to recruit additional special constables; a volunteer role with a minimum commitment of 16 hours per month. A Force spokesman told Beverley FM: “This is a unique opportunity, with various skills and specialist knowledge gained which are transferable to other parts of your life; including personal development and career progression.”

He continued: All Special Constables have the same powers, uniform and equipment as their colleagues. However, due to the level of training they receive, they will not be expected to or able to carry out all of the same tasks as a regular police officer. There is no such thing as a ‘typical day’ in this role, but you can expect to be on patrol, in uniform, on foot or in a vehicle.”
