Humberside Police are urging Beverley residents to ensure their homes are secure against burglars. The warning comes amid a rise in the number of residential burglaries, most recently in the Athelstan and Wellington road areas of Beverley.

Three burglaries took place in this area in the early hours of the 12 November; several items were taken and police have recovered a stolen coat left at the scene of another address. The burglars entered via an insecure rear door.

Last week two addresses in the Molescroft area were targeted. Police are calling on homeowners to be alert and ensure their doors are locked at all times.
