BUSINESS is booming for a Beverley cafe and deli; so much so they’ve announced plans to expand. Vanessa’s in Saturday Market has applied for planning permission to expand into two neighbouring properties at first and second floor levels, giving it half as much space again for cafe customers as well as enlarged kitchen and preparation areas.
Vanessa’s, owned by Vanessa Barker, opened 11 years ago and continues to go from strength to strength. The plan is to knock-through at first floor level above the neighbouring Market News shop, which will continue to trade, and the former Strefford’s menswear premises – the ground floor of which will be retained as potential retail premises.
“We are so excited by this and it would be lovely to think we could be open by Christmas,” Vanessa Barker told Beverley FM. “The support from the people of Beverley since we opened has been tremendous and this will open up much more space. But more importantly it will allow us to expand our kitchens and have dedicated preparation space. Our staff do an amazing job in such a small space and this will give us exactly what’s needed,” she said.
The plans are currently before East Riding Council and will be discussed by Beverley Town Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
